PA - Boy Shoots For Hope Boy Shoots For Cancer Hope (Sewickley, PA) -- Cancer has been attacked thanks to a Sewickley teen. Quaker Valley Courneen[corn-kneen] decided to make a difference in his aunt's name, who passed away from breast cancer. Courneen is a member of the basketball team and loves to shoot, so he combined his passion with his community and family. Hoops For Hope raised about 500-dollars for the non-profit Hair Peace Charities, who assists local women in buying wigs needed from breast cancer. Courneen's Aunt Kathy, who shared his birthday of October 24th, lost her battle to breast cancer in September. The assignment taught him the impact one person can make in the community. Courneen and his team mates earned pledge money for foul shooting. Courneen completed 91 out of 100 shots. |
