Updates.. Prayers for Kelly, my mom and me

October 14th, 2009

Had the scope knee surgery yesterday, the Doctor emailed me and said it looks like there was a lot of damage but was able to get much of it cleaned up and I should be able to be back to where I want to be – in the saddle after rehab, etc. Yeah! I love him! Start in my PT tomorrow – hard to beleive but I guess I can not be the next Dr House w cane and vicodin …Jamie is being Nurse Tough Love, trying to keep me off meds, and occassionally will get me some bread and water, poor Jamie…(”In Sickness”?)

Keep me in your prayers, along w my mom who had back surgery and is doing well – they put screws in her back? wondering if the insurance company said “oh screws, we know all about that! :-)

Daffodil Days – The Brownies plant Daffodils for Hair Peace

September 29th, 2009

PLANT JOY for Hair Peace warrior Robin Redfern who starts chemo 2 days after

I dont need to write anymore.. Read from Robin how wonderful the Brownies made her feel..

Hey everyone! Here are some picutres I wanted to share with you….most of you have heard me talk about Bonnie- her organization is called www.hairpeace.org and she has really helped me with all this…she is a breast cancer survivor as well and her organization helps women obtain wigs during their chemo treatments because insurance doesnt cover them. She has been a wonderful person to me and my husband and I am very grateful for her. >Anyways, the girl scouts pick a charity every year to plant daffodil’s and this year they picked hairpeace! So today they came to our house to plant daffodils! Now this couldnt of been more perfect timing for me because as you all know I start my chemo on tues. and I have a ton of emotions running in me! So to have a dozen 3rd graders just happy to be around you doing a good deed- it filled me with so much joy!! There is a picture of Bonnie and I….then they all came in and had cookies in the kitchen….of course Shelby was a big hit!!

Countdown til the Concert in the Park for Hair Peace!

July 31st, 2009

One of my goals is to get the word out that Hair Peace is available for local women with cancer. So I have been pushing for press and here are some spots to look for Hair Peace in the next week…

Sewickley Herald article in now.

This Sunday morning at 7am, Sean McDowell interviews Tara Charles and me for about 30 minutes. Hear it on WDVE 102.5, 105.9 the X, 94.5 3WS, News Talk 104.7, Kiss 96.1 and Fox 970am.

Next Wednesday morning I will be in KDKA-TV2 sometime between 9 and 10am – Pittsburgh Today Live. Cellofourte, the cello performers who cross the classical line with rock will also play.

And watch for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette – North section next week.

Things are going well, although I keep telling our sound engineers “all I know is how to talk into a mic, YOU plug it in!” lol.

Actually I keep repeating “God is in control..” and he has brought some amazing people into the Concert mix. So – plan on a GREAT day!

Go to the web site for direction info – there will be signs from Rt79 at the Mt Nebo exit to steer you to the Park.

Pack your picnic basket, throw some wine into a cooler, dust of your lawn chairs and plan on bringing all your family and friends.

The women of Hair Peace and I thank you for your support!

Bonny

May Newsletter

April 27th, 2009

It’s almost May! I always love the color that sparks up here and there indicating there is “life after winter”…trees budding, grass growing, flowers blooming…sort of like what it is like after chemo – it’s seems like it’s never going to end and eventually, you get the sprout of new hair – winter is over, time to smile, breathe in all that is good again. And even though it is annoying to cut the grass sometimes…thick, curly, GRAY (most annoying!) hair grows… it is a reminder that winter is over. One of my favorite stories on gray hair, Sandy prayed that her hair would grow back any color but white – so God answered her prayer – He grew it back gray…well you said anything but “white”! God is such a funny guy sometimes…

Ok, here’s what shaken… mark your calendars NOW :)

For more info on how Angel Food Ministries works – go to our church website – www.ingomarumc.org

You must take care of yourself…like the airlines tell you – put the mask over your face to breath first then you can assist others…make sure YOU take the time to plan to come to these opportunities listed. While it is important to be care givers, we must care for ourselves too. It concerns me that women with cancer are being treated yet at the same time managing a household and working.

See you soon??!!
